About Me.

I'm Ruby Stockwell (candidate number 9579) and I go to sixth form at Sprowston Community High School (centre number 18339). I have taken Media Studies from GCSE level and am taking it at AS level currently. I chose to take Media Studies as I am interested in the Media as a whole, movies, newspapers, tv, social networking etc. I followed Media on through to my A levels for this reason and mainly for the grade I got in my GCSE's which was an A. When our Media class were shown what our media production task would be, I was excited to be doing Film Noir, as I admire Film Noir style films and previously in Media, we hadn't got the chance to produce our own film. Elliott Gallagher, Cal Ives-Keeler and I came together as a group to create our Neo Noir opening title sequence. I am pleased with how our opening title sequence has turned out now it is finished, although as I'll refer to later on, I feel we could improve it. I hope you enjoy my groups Neo Noir opening title sequence, (the video shown above) and I also hope you like my evaluation of it on this website.

ACE
Film Noir Media Production

This is the opening title sequence my group (me, Elliott and Cal) created for our Media production. Our films genre was neo noir, which is a modern version of film noir.

Film Noir is a cinematic term used to describe Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those with dystopian themes and sexual motivations. Film Noir was created in America in the 1930's and was most popular from this point to the 1950's. Film Noir is "Black Film" in French which links to their convention cinematography as the films were originally all in black and white. Film Noirs usually fit genres such as thriller, crime, melodrama, romance, and mystery.

A Neo Noir is a modern style of film that incorporates conventional elements of Film Noir but with updated elements. In our Neo Noir opening title sequence, our Neo Noir elements included a modern location, props and costumes.

As the video to the right is just an opening title sequence, it's only a few minuites long. A brief synopsis of my film is, all characters are part of an underground bet in which they are playing poker. The Femme Fatal wins, surprisingly, as the evil Anti-Hero had no doubt he would lose. As he lost, and the gamble would leave him in danger, he decides to kill the Femme Fatale.
